Message this week

Lisa has been fighting off the nagging discouragement once again, the loneliness brings ache… Theodore finds resentment welling up and it’s taxing, especially after he heard what the family members shared…

Circumstances get stirred up in life. We’re faced with challenges every day.

The Bible teaches that we’re to glorify God in all things, even all circumstances. He’s at the center. He’s always at the center. His faithfulness, goodness, wisdom, and love always prevail.

But often we lose sight of His God-centeredness.

We read and study Jonah 3 this week. Jonah, the prophet, has his missionary task. He is called for a second time to go to the city of Nineveh. Through the lens of his ministry, first and foremost, we see God and His work. Our God is the Lord; and the city of Nineveh belongs to Him.

The simple, straightforward words grab our attention—“And the people of Nineveh believed God.”

God is the Lord working in and with His gospel. Jonah preaches and the Lord is working. One thing we emphasize in Jonah 3 is that God is at the center of all missionary activity in Nineveh. The story of Jonah repeatedly brings us back to first things first—God is at the center!
