Sermon: Promise and Fulfillment: Saving the Best for Last, Part 2
Point: The Christian life we live, we live in and through Jesus who has been raised from the dead -- that's hope!
God is the Living God; he is the God of the resurrection—He promises and answers with more and more promises. For example, we remember Adam and Eve of old when they fell into sin; and they were dead. They were, in truth, spiritually dead in their sin. God came to them and made the promise of his coming saving work. He gave them Genesis 3:15 (“And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel…”), that promise is the coming new life, the new life of resurrection in the promised One—the Lord Jesus. That means, for Adam and Eve, too, God would raise them in Jesus Christ, the Serpent Crusher.
In which areas do we struggle the most? Is it Doubt? Guilt? Comparing ourselves to others? Superstitious leanings, playing chance-games about life with fate or by reading the horoscope?
God has declared Jesus Christ the Mighty Victorious One! He is Lord and Savior. He is risen! Colossians 3:1-4 If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. 3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
