What Do You Believe?

Martin Luther

Romans 10:9-13

9 “…if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.  10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.  11 For the Scripture says, ‘Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.’  12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him.  13 For ‘whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.’"

Here is the first line of The Apostles’ Creed:

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of Heaven and Earth...

The German Monk, Pastor, and Teacher of the Reformation days, Martin Luther writes:

“I Believe that God has created me and all that exists; that He has given and still preserves to me my body and soul with all my limbs and senses, my reason and all the faculties of my mind, together with my raiment, food, home and family, and all my property; that He daily provides me abundantly with all the necessaries of life, protects me from all danger, and preserves me and guards me against all evil; all of which He does out of pure, paternal, and divine goodness and mercy, without any merit of worthiness in me, for all which I am in duty bound to thank, praise, serve and obey Him. This is most certainly true.”
