Moses tells the people of Israel what God is like. To know him means knowing his faithfulness, his reliability. Our Lord shows a constant, never-ending reach of care, concern, and commitment. This never-ending reach goes on and on for a thousand generations, which refers to a long, long time. Notice the passage speaks of the Lord’s mercy. Mercy assumes helplessness. To have mercy means reaching down and providing help for one who cannot help himself.
Affection for the Lord while Serving in the City
While serving in Houston, we labor and strive with combined blessings and challenges. This mega-city overwhelms with its splendor of ethnicities, with men and women and children learning to exercise dominion in the concrete garden with the variety of trades, commerce, medicine, architecture, and entertainment. It equally overwhelms with the heartaches of the spoils of sin and sin’s ruin, the self-centered-ism leading to greed, envy, lusts of the flesh, status-seeking strutting, and our abusive ways to one another. A combination—blessings and challenges!

Today's professing church, those who gladly give themselves to Jesus Christ and his Word, who are united to him by faith and bound together as church leadership and members, as fathers, mothers, single folk, and the elderly and young children, want to walk the talk. ... Acting on this resourceful living in Christ, putting it into practice, requires knowing that you know. The Apostle John writes, "...that ye may know..." It is knowing eternal life is yours.
